Description
Situated on the Cape Clear Island, O’Driscoll Castle was once the stronghold of the O’Driscoll family. A pirate clan, the O’Driscolls ruled with an iron hand around the Sherkin Island, Baltimore and Cape Island. With the increase in their power, the O’Driscolls joined forces with O’Donnells of Tír Chonaill and the O’Neills of Tír Eoghain to rebel against British Monarchy. Queen Elizabeth launched a counter-attack and the battle continued for nine long years. Despite their efforts, the O’Driscolls lost the war and power. The black and white portrait of this historic castle takes you back in time to relive history.
