dublin seascape photo, bull wall bathing shelter

A black and white Dublin seascape photo of the Bull Wall bathing shelter. Captured on a still Autumn sunny day. The exposure time was 2 minutes and the image has wonderful detail thanks to my Phase One 100 megapixel camera. See more of my Dublin images here

Bull island photo, dublin port

A Dublin Cityscape At TwilightOne of the best times to take a Bull island photo is during low tide. At twilight everything starts to glisten. Wonderful reflections from Poolbeg and Dublin Port appear on the wet sand. Dublin is at it’s most beautiful at night, where everything seems to stand still.

Knocksink Wood, wicklow forest

Knocksink Wood in County Wicklow is a truly enchanted forest. The relatively small wood has a large amount of ivy growing up the mature trees resulting in wonderfully pleasing dramatic shapes and forms. It is my favorite Wicklow forest. You just want to get lost in it’s enthralling beauty and escape the hustle and bustle of city life.

Sandymount Strand Baths, dublin bay sunset

While walking along the coast this summer I was for the first time drawn to the Sandymount Strand Baths. Unlike the other swimming baths in the area, these baths are isolated from the coast. As a structure it is not particularly interesting. As a result they were not included in my exhibition of the Dublin swimming baths, which was titled Duality. However there was something that attracted me about the relationship between the Baths  and it’s surroundings.  Small snippets of beauty where everything comes together at the right time to form a perfect Dublin Bay sunset. The temporary stream that forms everyday due to the low tide, leads your eye to the famous backdrop of Poolbeg. A sliver of  warm sunshine lights the one wall before the day turns to night.

Bull Wall dublin nightscape

The rising low tide in Dublin Bay approaches the Bull Wall. The exposed seabed looks glorious, gently lit by the glow of the city. A perfect Dublin nightscape.

The Octagon, Glen of the Downs

The Glen of the Downs provides a wonderful Autumn forest landscape scene in this small but beautiful Wicklow woodland. The building commonly known as the Octagon due to it’s shape sits on the edge of the forest. It is a majestic setting. The Glen of the Downs was part of the Bellevue Estate and the now ruined Octagon structure was once used as a hunting lodge and tea rooms.

Bull island bathing shelter, Dublin bay

A Bull island bathing shelter overlooking Dublin bay perfectly frames Poolbeg Power Station. A swimmer strolls in the water appearing to almost walk on the water. The well designed rounded forms of the art deco structures, located on Bull island are an elegant addition to the Dublin Coast.

Guinness Brewery Dublin

The Guinness Storehouse in Dublin also known as the Guinness Brewery, flooded in a green light to celebrate the Saint Patrick’s Festival. Each year the folks in the Guinness Storehouse celebrate everything that is Irish during their busiest time of the entire year. I was commissioned by Diageo to photograph the building as part of their marketing campaign in the lead up to the festival. The photo was part of my winning panel of photos for IPPVA Commercial Photographer of the Year 2018.
