In 2016 the Boland’s Mill in Dublin is a fantastic location for urban industrial photos. It is the anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising and offers many opportunities for fine art photography. This industrial building has a bounty of fascinating spaces and forms.

Bolands Mill Barrow Street is a well known Dublin landmark. It is a former Flour Mill once owned by the Boland family. Boland’s bakery was located nearby on Grand Canal Street Lower. Both sites were occupied by De Valera and his forces during the Easter Rising.
Boland’s Mill is an austere structure that always fascinated me. You either love it or hate it. It reminds of my time in Berlin somehow. The setting for this industrial photo showing the old concrete and steel structures that form part of the site’s history were fascinating to me.
Boland’s Mill, Dublin No. 4 was part of my winning portfolio to become the 2016 Fine Art Photographer of the year in the National IPPA awards.

I was delighted to be allowed entry into the historic site that is Bolands Mill Dublin, shortly before redevelopment into a major new development by BKD architects. It is located around Grand Canal Dock on Barrow Street near Google and is a site of major historical importance. Here you see a panoramic industrial photo of the Concrete Silos in the Mill.

A moody night photo of Saint Finbarr’s oratory on the shores of Gougane Barra lake. The oratory is part of Gougane Barra Forest park in County Cork. It is a forest of outstanding beauty and well worth a visit. The oratory is often used as a wedding chapel due to its perfect setting.

An elevated photo of the Guinness Storehouse, Saint James’s Gate. The photo was taken after sunrise. The early morning light brightened the Guinness Storehouse bar. Also known as the Gravity bar, it offers outstanding views of Dublin City.
The Barley Pit, Guinness Storehouse is located in the ingredients area. It is one of my favourite installations. Full of very graphic visuals and subdued lighting, It also includes the visually striking waterfall feature.
