“A dreaming cleft, plaid coloured, old road green, mountain blue; the pewter memory of water.”
– SJ Mannion
A seascape Photo of Ireland captured at Killary Harbour in Galway, located near Leenane in wonderful Connemara. The Harbour is Ireland’s only Fjord and boasts some of the finest scenery in the West of Ireland with the Mweelrea mountains and Maumturk Mountains rising up. The roads from Maam, Clifden, and Westport meet at Leenane.

Dublin Landscape Photography of the Guinness Storehouse Saint James’s Gate. In the black and white photo, the Storehouse looks more like a Building from Chicago than Dublin. People not familiar with the Guinness Storehouse are often surprised at first that it is a photo of Dublin. It was actually Of course the Guinness sign on the gate is a bit of a giveaway!

Gougane Barra forest Cork is where it all started with my 360° panoramic forest photo project. So much has happened since than. The project has advanced and evolved plus my knowledge and skills have improved in shooting these complicated scenes. Gougane Barra forest Park is quite simply one of the most beautiful places in Ireland. The forest is so accessible and once you start walking you very quickly feel you are in the heart of the forest. The fact you can stay in the lovely Gougane Barra Hotel, located a few hundred meters from the forest park is a big plus. I spent another 3 days photographing the forest. The light was beautiful and the air was still. There is something so meditative and uplifting about forest and sunshine.

The Giant’s Causeway is an area of unique rock formations. It is located on the northeast coast of Northern Ireland, about two miles north of the town of Bushmills in County Antrim. The tops of the columns form stepping stones that lead from the cliff foot and disappear under the sea. The tallest are about 12 meters high. This gorgeous geological wonder is really worth visiting!

I was commissioned to capture fine art landscape photos of the forest at Belgard castle. This image was printed at 6m high in their new headquarters! I love the dappled sunlight of the Autumn forest. It all came together in that moment.

Suddenly a nondescript scene offers an opportunity to take a fine art landscape photo of Cork in the south of Ireland. An old dilapidated fence encircles a water filled concrete structure and has with time become a part of the rugged landscape. The location was on the Beara peninsula in west Cork.

A landscape photo taken while doing the Ring of Kerry drive around the Iveragh peninsula in County Kerry. The old farm house, sitting on the hills above Caragh Lake is like something from another era. There was something very peaceful about the place, the smell of the turf fire, the absence of modern day distractions. Places like this are now very rare to see.

“The architecture of self. A retrospective frieze. A time passed, tenderly felt.”

Here is a photo of the old family farm sheds in Skreen, County Sligo where I grew up. It’s a very personal image. I used to play there. I had my own vegetable garden plot just behind the trees. Although farming was never my thing I used to also sometimes help out with my dad and brother. Neither are with us now.

Fanad is a peninsula that lies between Lough Swilly and Mulroy Bay on the north coast of County Donegal in Ireland and it is on the tip of the peninsula near the lovely village of Portsalon where you will find Fanad Head Lighthouse. The lighthouse was constructed in 1818 in response to the sinking of a frigate. The lighthouse sits perfectly in a wonderful setting. I took the photo about 2 hours after sunset on a lovely clear August evening.
