Guinness Storehouse Waterfall industrial photo

“Two temples: aureate and argent.”

– SJ Mannion

The waterfall and the barley pit are 2 of my favourite installations in the Guinness Storehouse. Here you see an industrial photo of the waterfall. The constant flow of water is quite seductive. The use of lighting by the architects add mood to the scene.

The image was part of my winning commercial Portfolio in the 2015 IPPA awards.

Guinness Storehouse Waterfall Industrial Fine Art Photo

“A bejewelled glinting sanctum, sheet water glimmer and droplet splashed”

– SJ Mannion

The Guinness Storehouse Waterfall installation in the Guinness Storehouse is a visual delight. The use of lighting by the architects add mood to the scene. The raw concrete industrial setting is ideal for such a beautiful contrast. Although it was a commercial image originally photographed for Diageo, it is also a beautiful industrial fine art photo and it looks wonderful in print.

“The image received a Gold award in the 2015 National IPPA awards. It also was a finalist in the 2015 FEP European Photographer of the Year awards.

Guinness Storehouse James’s Gate photographic art

“What multilateral celebration of symmetry. An arborescent view.”

– SJ Mannion

Every time I enter the Guinness Storehouse Jamess Gate via the escalator I am drawn to what lies above me. Perfect for photographic art. The clear space above me is like some sort of portal. It sucks me in every time. The rusted old pipe work are like the parts of some mysterious machine.

“Blessings lie within these lustrous gates; and they shall pour out.”

– SJ Mannion

A fine art architectural photo of the old pipework at the entrance to the tasting rooms in the Guinness Storehouse. The tasting rooms are interesting spaces in the Storehouse where visitors use their different senses to lean more about the famous Guinness. Well worth a visit!

Guinness Storehouse models urban industrial photo

“A caged motionless artillery. An impotent armoury.”

– SJ Mannion

An urban industrial photo of the Guinness Storehouse models. The models are located in the Guinness Storehouse itself at James’s Gate. Some hang from the ceiling and I was particularly drawn to these. The daylight is just about visible behind the shutters. You really do loose a sense of time inside the Storehouse. An amazing place to visit when in Dublin.

guinness storehouse cooperage commercial photographer ireland

“As in Luxor, the antechamber, filled with gifts and artefacts.”

– SJ Mannion

Many of the installations in the Guinness Storehouse utilise old equipment once used in the brewing process to form part of the installations there. The Guinness Storehouse Cooperage in this photo contain several old cooper barrels. Clever use of coloured lighting is utilised by the Storehouse to bring character to the old equipment in the background. Although hired as a commercial photographer, my aim was alway to give a unique stamp on the images, influenced by my personal work.

“A modern Giza. Gilded, guarded and inscribed. Entice, enthrone, entomb.”

– SJ Mannion

Guinness Storehouse boat models professional architectural photography

“A cradle of content heralded with luminous portent.”

– SJ Mannion

I was commissioned by Diageo to photograph the Guinness Storehouse for a number of marketing uses. Part of the brief was fulfilled with my architectural photography from which I wanted to illustrate the beauty of this old evolving building. The model display area has a lot of character. The Guinness Storehouse boat models in this photo lead the viewers eye into the scene. I met an old gentleman by coincidence at an art fair, where I had a piece from the Guinness Storehouse on display. He stood there for about 20 minutes before introducing himself. I think a lot of memories came back to him. I love meeting people like that.
