Bolands Mill Barrow Street Industrial photo
“Intramural.”
– SJ Mannion
Bolands Mill Barrow Street is a well known Dublin landmark. It is a former Flour Mill once owned by the Boland family. Boland’s bakery was located nearby on Grand Canal Street Lower. Both sites were occupied by De Valera and his forces during the Easter Rising.
Boland’s Mill is an austere structure that always fascinated me. You either love it or hate it. It reminds of my time in Berlin somehow. The setting for this industrial photo showing the old concrete and steel structures that form part of the site’s history were fascinating to me.
Boland’s Mill, Dublin No. 4 was part of my winning portfolio to become the 2016 Fine Art Photographer of the year in the National IPPA awards.
