I visit Portsalon almost every year. It is a lovely beach in a wonderful part of the country with easy access other parts of Donegal. I stayed in a chalet right beside this pier. I often stood on the wall but it was at night that the composition really spoke to me. I wanted to create mood similar to a scene from a movie. It was about 2am when I captured this image. In fact, while shooting some locals drove onto the pier for a short while. Instead of ruining the picture, the car lights actually add to the scene. They seem to mimic the shape of the pier.
