Fanad Head Lighthouse Donegal
“This light signals safe harbour. Promises land, life and hearth and home are not yet lost.”
– SJ Mannion
Fanad is a peninsula that lies between Lough Swilly and Mulroy Bay on the north coast of County Donegal in Ireland and it is on the tip of the peninsula near the lovely village of Portsalon where you will find Fanad Head Lighthouse. The lighthouse was constructed in 1818 in response to the sinking of a frigate. The lighthouse sits perfectly in a wonderful setting. I took the photo about 2 hours after sunset on a lovely clear August evening.
